I found the this edition of “What is Life” by the physicist Erwin Schrödinger in a second hand book store in Munich, Germany. I set about to rework this book, that tries to investigate of what the journey of live is (where does life come from), into a traverse through the book itself.
By doing so, it forces the reader to take detours, fall into holes, take short cuts and to get lost.
From being a book that has a clear, two-dimensional structure (start in the beginning, read line by line, page by page), and a clear mission (to answer the question “how can the events in space and time which take place within the spatial boundary of a living organism be accounted for by physics and chemistry?”), it gets transformed into a three-dimensional parcours.
